Solar Energy Generation:

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Solar Energy Technologies Program (SETP or Solar Program) promotes the commercialization of solar.

The Solar Energy Technologies Program focuses on developing cost-effective solar energy technologies that have the greatest potential to benefit the nation and the world

“Cost effective solar energy technologies have the greatest potential to benefit the nation and the world. Solar technologies diversify the energy supply, reduce the country’s dependence on imported fuels, improve air quality, and offset greenhouse gas emissions. A growing solar industry also stimulates our economy by creating jobs in solar manufacturing and installation”.

The mission of the Solar Energy Technologies Program is to improve America’s security, environmental quality, and economic prosperity through public private partnerships that bring reliable and affordable solar energy technologies to th marketplace.

Education, Training, and Workforce Development

The Solar Program supports efforts that educate and train students and professionals to improve solar installations.

The U.S. Department of Energy Solar Energy Technologies Program (Solar Program) is helping to develop a workforce with the critical skills required to meet the needs of a rapidly growing solar industry. A well-trained workforce is necessary to ensure quality installations, cost reductions, and consumer confidence in the reliability of solar installations.

Solar resources on training and courses are available for skilled professionals in the solar industry and those with experience in other trades, who want continuing education and certification.

The primary audiences for these educational resources are professionals in solar installation (e.g., installation contractors, system designers, engineers, and sales people) and related trades (e.g., electrical contracting, building construction, and roofing).
